John Grubb (1813 - unknown) was a ships carpenter who reached
Lyttleton, New Zealand by 1847
His son, James Brown Grubb was elected Mayor of
Lyttleton in 1902.
James Brown Grubb Jr (1892 - unknown) settled in Oakland, California and built
a large real estate business.
In 1962, he established the Grubb Scholarship Foundation to assist
African students pursue graduate studies
